But, if you're Katy Perry, you do transitional dressing a little differently: the pop star's latest ensemble combined a beloved summer fashion trend with a new nail fad that you'll be seeing on fall Pinterest boards everywhere.

The "Dark Horse" singer surprised her 203 million Instagram followers with a collection of glamorous photos. In the sultry snaps, she stunned in a semi-sheer, lavender-colored maxidress with ribbing throughout, glitter all over, and a figure-hugging silhouette that revealed Perry went braless. The frock also featured a divisive detail that dominated the summer: a single-strap design that transitioned into a scarf detail.

The 40-year-old paired the sparkly frock with some polarizing footwear: PVC heels with a pointed-toe and silver heel. She kept the chromatic accessories going with architectural silver drop earrings, decorated with opulent pearls.

Now, onto the manicure. Perry ushered fans into fall with metallic silver nails that up the ante on the popular chrome nails popularized by celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Megan Fox, and Jennifer Lopez. The trend has a luxe feel while packing lots of edge—the perfect look for the upcoming cooler months.

As for the rest of her beauty, the singer-songwriter wore her luscious, long black locks down and straight with a middle part, courtesy of hair artist Andrew Ly. Perry radiated in rosy makeup, complete with defined eyebrows, smoked-out winged eyeliner, fluttery eyelashes, flushed cheeks, luminous skin, and a strawberry-pink lip, courtesy of makeup artists Alexandra French.

Perry simply captioned her slideshow, which sees her posing in front of a velvety silver curtain, with the pink bow emoji.
