Gelato Relay: Powering Gasless Swaps & Zaps

The Galaxy Broadcasting System (GBS) was created by combining Gelato Relay’s capabilities with Portals’ expansive offerings. Instead of a traditional transaction, the system utilizes intents, which allow for more flexible transaction pathways: simply provide an input token and the desired outcome, and Portals takes care of the rest. Complex, multi-step orders are executed gaslessly with no failed transactions, in one click.

Gelato Relay processes all gasless orders made on Portals through Account Abstraction, eliminating the need to hold native tokens to pay for gas. Users can approve and pay gas fees with any token in the route, including:

Liquidity Pool tokens

Vault tokens

Interest-Bearing tokens

Liquid Staking Derivatives

How It Works

GBS uses EIP-712 signed orders (intents) for users to describe desired outcomes. For example, a trader can sign an order to acquire and stake LSDs (Liquid Staking Derivatives) in the highest-yielding Aura vault using USDC.

Portals, using its Warpdrive algorithm, determines the optimal route to satisfy the intent. After simulating the outcome, it assembles an unsigned transaction containing both the signed intent and the execution steps. This is handed to Gelato as part of GBS for gasless execution.

Gelato Relay then executes the payload, leveraging its decentralized executor network to ensure rapid and secure validation. Gelato also supports advanced patterns like smart contract signatures (EIP-1271) and gasless approvals (EIP-2612).

As a result, traders no longer need to worry about gas, gas prices, failed transactions, or juggling multiple dApps. Within seconds, the intent is fulfilled and the desired position is created — fully gasless and in a single transaction.
