I'm not much impressed with KVCD's 'facsimile' of VCD or DVD formats, either. JMO.

Somewhat off topic, but I recently watched a 'professional restore' of a 1930's cowboy movie. It looked like they use a cheap 'soft focus' lens. (Vaseline over a neutral density filter.

) Unless the original was really flawed, they destroyed any quality that might have remained.

I can tolerate some low quality video if it's planned to be viewed on a low res display. But these days with more higher res displays available, it's a shame to mess up what may have been a decent quality video just for the sake to make it as small as possible.

Sorry for the rant.
