The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program at Steilacoom High School is designed to inspire and develop the leaders of tomorrow. While rooted in military tradition, JROTC is not a recruitment program it is a leadership and citizenship development program open to all students. Through hands-on experiences, team-building, and community service, cadets learn responsibility, discipline, and collaboration. The program helps students build a strong foundation for life after high school, whether they choose to pursue college, trade school, the workforce, or military service.
Beyond leadership skills, JROTC provides students with opportunities to grow academically, socially, and personally. Cadets engage in drill competitions, community events, and service-learning projects, building confidence and resilience along the way. The program is dedicated to preparing students to meet their goals after graduation and to be positive contributors in their communities. Steilacoom High School is proud of our cadets and the many ways they embody the values of integrity, service, and respect.
Upon completing JROTC, we hope our cadets graduate as:
Strong leaders who inspire and support others
Responsible citizens who serve their community
Effective communicators who work well in teams
Resilient young adults prepared for life after high school
Joyful and confident graduates ready for the future
