For at least a year I've had issues with 9NOW on a Sony KDL-32W660E (purchased 2019). During an advert break adverts would often play for second, stop for second, play for second. Not every one but enough. Though time consuming, the real problem occurs when the string of adverts finally end. Instead of the program resuming where it left off, it would sometimes skip to the next episode. Originally this skipping occurred infrequently – annoying but bearable. However it's now become such that I would be lucky to view an entire episode of a program without it skipping at the ad breaks.

As this only occurred with 9NOW I assumed the problem lay with them. After a particularly bad session I performed a soft reset of the Sony (toggled mains power) and that temporarily fixed it. I began to suspect the Sony and reported the issue to them. They responded with:
" [it] has something to do with the Software of the TV. Given that the Software of the TV is terminated already, or Sony do not do update to it anymore due to its age. The current apps that you are using will eventually crash due to compatibility issue."

I took 'Software of the TV' to mean it's firmware and pointed out that a much older LG TV in the household had a firmware update in 2022 and was running 9NOW without issue. They came back stating "Sony do not have control on the updates or errors that has been going on with the app you are using." They basically told me to buy a new TV.

So what's going on here – is it 9NOW not supporting the Sony – or Sony not supporting the KDL-32W660E ? It has certainly made me rethink paying more for an up-market brand only to be left with nil support.
