With the ongoing issues with Boeing is there an opening for Embraer to move into the US market beyond sporadic use of their small regional jets? The larger Embraer E Jets (190 and 195) are used extensively by international carriers and maintain excellent safety/maintenance reputations.

I think some of the larger Embraers are used by the US regional carriers.

Only the E-175 which are utilized by regional carriers (Skywest, Mesa, etc) for short haul routes.

I think a couple of the regionals that went defunct might have been planning on getting the larger Embraers but it didn't happen because they shut down beforehand.

I worked for the CEO of a transport company that did over 80 billion in revenue last year. He started with the company as an engineer/pilot. He owned a personal Cessna jet for decades. He said Embraer (Brazilian company) built an amazing product and it made Cessna look like a poor design in comparison. Cessna had an amazing dealer network which is why he bought one but he always thought the Embraer was a better product.
I wonder if the import tariffs will derail their chances at being competitive with Boeing.

I think that's the only chance Boeing has to recover market dominance given their recent issues.

Boeing has a backlog of almost 5,000 Max aircraft. Rumors of their demise are massively exaggerated. Stock price is climbing and the future looks good.

Perhaps it's not as bad but would bet they're going to lose a sizeable chunk of the monopoly they've enjoyed for so many years. A 5,000 aircraft backlog would also certainly be a deterrent to some airlines with more immediate needs.

I think you’re wishing this to happen without any real facts to support that position. Boeing has made huge changes, hired a new CEO, and is being watched closely by the government. Add to that a huge number of pilots who are intimately familiar with the systems.

jetBlue used to use E-190s, but I believe those are out of service (probably replaced in part by the A-220-300
